Car Servicing – Things to Consider Before, during and After Servicing Your Car

Here is a guide for you to consider a few things about car servicing, before, during and after.

Things to Consider Before Servicing Your Car:

  • Try to inspect your car thoroughly with special attention on the external factors that you can visibly see.
  • Make a quick note of any scratches on the car.
  • Then inspect the interior for any damage or dirt on the seat, this is because there are possibilities for the car seats to get damaged in the service center as grease and other elements are used.
  • Record the reading on your odometer.
  • Avoid filling the fuel tank before you take your car for a service.
  • Remove expensive audio systems and other expensive elements like sunglasses if possible.
  • Try to lock the glove box to protect the valuables inside.
  • Try to be on time for your service and avoid being late because getting the service done within the same day is always recommended.

Things to Consider During the Service:

  • Try to be friends at the service center with the service guy.
  • Ask for his mobile number and know his name also.
  • Try to share your business card and insist on an early service without delay.
  • If a question is raised about the function of any parts of your car never ignore them by saying “I have no idea” or “I don’t know” instead try to convey the exact working condition.
  • Take a look at the service manual and check the list and paperwork.
  • Avoid paying upfront for your car services.
  • If any parts of your car are to be replaced  question them why and ask what was the damage to the old parts.

Things to consider After Servicing:

  • Try to be on time to pick up your car.
  • Avoid leaving your car overnight in the service centre if possible.
  • Always request  the checklist for the service done as you will better understand  what changes have been made and how it helps you.
  • If there is a warranty covering  any products or spare parts changed then get it stamped and add to your manual immediately.
  • Check the interior for good working conditions, including the seat incase there is any damage of dirt on it.
  • Thank the service guy who did the service before you leave.

Besides these elements there are also many other factors to take into consideration for your car servicing, you should also consider taking your car to the most reliable service center which is recommended for safe and quick servicing.
